spring break!

observations: i only got to go one day this week becaue of the catapult and the other day mrs. porter was sick. So i only got to go on friday and that was a chill day because it was the day for sb. We just worked on the recycling projects they have been doing to lead into earth day that was coming up. It was a really chill day and the kids were just ready to go.

learning experience: I didn’t get to really teach this week because i only went on one day. So i just say back and watched the kids make some pots and pencil holders. i learned that some days it is okay to just relax and let the kids have some and not do any work.

reflections: like i said this week was a really short week for me because i only went one day. so my reflections are basically the same that the ones above. I learned that some days the teachers and students both need breaks. esp before big breaks!!!

the week went slow, but surely was fun

Observations: This was an interesting week because my fourth graders were gone on a field trip one day so I got to just hang out with Mrs. Porter and be a teacher. The next class they talks ALLLLL about their field trip which was alot of fun to hear about, since they went to Charleston. I got to see how mrs. porter made the lesson about what they did. Write some sentences about their trip. It was really cool to watch.

Learning Expereince: Since they were on their field trip I got another day of being a teacher and working behind the desk. It was cool because I like doing all the artsy stuff, like decorating the bullentine board. I got to decorate the door with the spring decorations. And I got to grade some papers…yaaay! not

Reflections: This week was interesting because I got to be behind the deesk. It helped me because I got to learn more about being a teacher. I like it alot and it was great to get to learn all the things that they do when the kids aren’t there.

stories to share: On Thursday when the fourth graders were getting ready to leave i went with one of the students to his class to visit my old swim coach. When I came back to the class the third graders were there and one of them was on google earth and he turned around to me and said, I’m in rockhill! What’s your address?. So I told him my address and he typed it in taking me to my virtual house. It was really neat to watch an 8 year old know how to navigate google earth. To this day I still get confused trying to figure it out. So it was really nice getting to watch a third grader excel at something so complicated an 18 year old girl about to go to college and barley handle. I’m super excited for this week because it is a three day week for me at the school!

another great week of FE!!!!!!

Observations: This week we got a new student in the class! He is a fifth grader, and it really smart! I got to see how he interacts with all the new students and watch him with that. Another interaction i saw was how the kids interact with their friends because mrs. Porter let them have their friends come to lunch.  It was really cool to watch them interact with their friends.

Learning Expereince:  This week was my big lesson! I think it went really well. Everything went good! The kids knew what was happening and they were big helps into helping my grade! They did a really good job in helping to make my grade good! THANK YOU KIDS! I think i did a good job because I helped to interpret different ideas into by bringing in the SC history from information.

Reflections: I learned alot this week since it was my full lesson. The kids did a good job but there were some things that i could have made better. Like I could have sat in my chair longer and helped to let the kids focus more. Since they move so much in there chair i had to move too. So i learned about that to help do all that stuff, to make it flow easier.

Stories to Share: Now I just thought this was the cutest thing ever! One of the third graders comes in every day saying “HEY Mrs. Porter” and greets her with a big hug. When I started coming in he would do the exact same thing to be but would greet me saying “HEY Miss Roses!” and give me a big hug. When he first did it me and Mrs. Porter started laughing because it was just the cutest thing ever. Later on during the class he asked me a question saying Miss Squirrels. Which i thought was actually really interesting because if you look at the two they both sound like suarez in one way of another! It was the cutest thing i had ever seen!

loving FE:)

Observation

Soooo my FE has been going great. Mrs. Porter lets me do a lesson a day, most of them are in formal though. I have learned alot from her. Like it is okay to be goofy with the kids as long as they are getting their work done. It’s also a good thing to let them feel comfortable. Most of the kids in her class like to stand while they are doing school work to help them focus and get rid of some of that energy. SoI have leanred that you have to adjest to all the kids needs. Its real important. I also observed the kids fight some today,  over a chair. It is really important to them that they get to sit int he teacher chair. Mrs. Porter didn’t have any of that! She did not let that one fly by easily.

Learning Experience: Like I said above Mrs. Porter has been letting me do a lesson a day. I get to be the mean teacher that makes them read in the critical thinking book. THEY JUST LOVE THAT! sikkkke. They hate it. But we make it fun by letting them throw the ball around like popcorn reading. It is a good thing for that because it helps them to have a reason to listen.

Reflections: Overall this week was a good week for me in the teaching world. I learned a lot from the kids, probably more than they learned from me! HAH. The kids are just wonderful…i’m gonna be really sad when it all ends:(

Stories to Share: On Tuesday when the third graders were reading I was sitting in between two of them and one of them is only in there with us every once and awhile and why he was in there and Mrs. Porter was reading he was reading along with her not skipping a word! With him reading it the other two started reading not doing quite as much as him but were reading! It was really nice to see him read and by him reading all the words help the other two to read.

half days? why don’t we get half days!

Observations: So this week we only got to go out for one day of field experience with the kids, and the other was spent with our teacher. helping them out! On Tuesday I got to see the kids bring their friends to Mrs. Porter’s room for lunch! It was really nice to see because I got to see how the kids interact with other students in the building, and catch up on whats “in” in the elementary school. Justin Bieber..HOT in the fourth grade world. When it came to call work I got to see the third graders read a story about a dog, and that was really interesting to see. And then with the fourth graders I helped out a kid do math who is on a whole different plan than all the others. And while I was doing that the other fourth graders were reading a story then answering some questions that had to deal with the story. Over all I observed alot on Tuesday. On Thursday I got to see all the dirty work behind being a teacher, like cutting paper! And writing times tables! And covering boxes! Just kidding all of that stuff was actually kind of fun, I like doing all the little things in a class room to help make it look cute!

Learning Experience: Well like I said on Tuesday I had to help a student with some Math. He all together had a total of probably 20 math questions, split up into different categories. What would have taken most kids ten minutes took us about 25 minutes. It was kind of stressful to have to tell him to sit in his chair constantly, and say alright only 5 more! and so on for every question. Although when we reached the last one it was like he won the olympics! The whole class was cheering. It helped me to learn that some kids just need different approaches on different subjects and different prizes for each accomplishment.

Reflections: Overall this week was a good week for me in the teaching world. I learned a lot from the kids, probably more than they learned from me! HAH. But sadly, my last swim meet was this weekend. Very emotional swim meet that’s for sure. But at the meet I was watching the people swimming and all I could think was man, i wanna coach! So that’s what i’m gonna plan on doing while i’m in college or something, to help grow my teaching experiences with it.

Miss. Roses + Miss Squirrels = Miss Suarez

Observations: So week two was grrrreat! We got to have three times in the class room which was fabulous, because i love the kids in my class. Mrs. Porter let me help the girls write their stories and through that I got to see who played what role in the class. One of the girls loves to write, even for the other people. And she took charge. Ironically, for me at first impression she is not the one i would have thought to of taken charge. It showed me that first impressions are not always accurate for teaching kids in the resource class. Another observations I made was when we were teaching the third graders. One of the third graders has a really short attention span so when we are reading a story I find him looking at the table or playing with anything he can get his hands on. It was really kinda cool because I would take the pencils away from him and a second later he would have another pencil in his hand and a big smile on his face. When i took all the pencils away from him he just simply put his head down. Mrs. Porter put a pencil on the table without him seeing it and literally seconds later the pencil was in his hand. It was quite interesting. And you just can’t get mad at him because he is simply adorable!

Learning Experience: Because of behavior problems we have a permanent guest in our class room who i actually think is a really good kid just sees life in a different way. I only got to see him for about 45 minutes on two of the days because Mrs. Porter and Mrs. Taylor switch throughout the day. Watching him interact with the other kids for me was a learning experience because you got to see how they handled him with some of the stuff he said and did. Of course one of the times when Mrs. Porter stepped out of the classroom he started throwing stuff at the kids. He wasn’t doing it to purposely hurt them, i think it was to be funny, or like all little boys do be immature. But I had to go over to the man cave and take what he was throwing from him and then after that things went back to normal, like it never happened. On a lighter note on Friday i got to do a one on one with one of the fourth graders and do a survey. It was cool to get to see what she likes to do in her spare time with reading and things like that. She has a hard time with writing and reading out loud because she spends alot of the time trying to understand what she is reading, and she is actually really good at that! So i made her write and read the questions out to me helping her with some of the words and encouraging her with her writing telling her she has really good hand writing. Giving her some confidence to boost her writing!

Reflections: So on Thursday we heard how there was not going to be school this friday and for me that just works out great in every aspect because i would not have been able to of gone to school or out in the field. So yay for me! This week was good for me to get to see how all the other students get to interact with each other, since last week they were a little scared of me. This week was good because they started to talk to me and come in with little stories to share.

Stories to Share: Now I just thought this was the cutest thing ever! One of the third graders comes in every day saying “HEY Mrs. Porter” and greets her with a big hug. What’s your address?

Observations:  So the big day came and we all started our field experience. When I was at River Springs, at first I was super nervous that i was going to mess something up or i wasn’t prepared for it. But luckily I was. When I am there I have to joy of teaching the fourth graders and third graders, and one lucky fifth grader. On my first day the fourth graders read me their play that made up one day when Mrs. Porter was not there. It was actually a really good play. Well written and put together. When I was in fourth grader i doubt i would be able to put anything like that together. When the third graders came in i first got a big hug from on the little kids, it was really sweet and i totally did not expect it since i was a stranger to him. With them we went to the book fair and they got to look at all the different books that would possibly want to read. On Thursday when i got to class the fourth graders were finishing up their pictures of their monsters so they could then describe them using big adjectives! They were all very creative with their words, all surprising me with the different adj. they came up with! When they left and third graders came in they started off my playing games then moved into two separate groups working on math and reading. I was helping one of the students with math and he was getting every single one right! Since he got all of them right we got to play a game of tic tac toe..he beat me!

Learning Experiences:

I learned more than i thought i would in my first two days on field experience. I learned how to deal with different situations whether it be the kids being afraid of you because it is their first time seeing this new strangers. I used the technique of asking each of them a question after they told me alittle about themselves. Most of my learning experince i  put up in the observations.
